Book - Selected Works of Mahmoud Farshchian کتاب برگزیده آثار نقاشی محمود فرشچیان
Mahmoud Farshchian (born January 24, 1930, in Isfahan, Iran) is a prominent master of Iranian painting. Farshchian’s father, who was an Isfahan carpet dealer, recognized his son’s talent and took him to the workshop of master painter Haj Mirza Aqa Emami. After studying under Emami and Bahadari and graduating from the School of Fine Arts in Isfahan, Farshchian traveled to Europe to attend the Fine Arts Academy, spending several years studying Western artists’ works in museums. According to him, he was often the first to enter the museums, carrying books and sketching materials, and the last to leave.
Upon returning to Iran, Farshchian began working at the General Office of Fine Arts in Tehran and later became the director of the National Office and a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran. He currently resides in New Jersey, USA, but makes periodic trips to Iran. A documentary film titled Eshghpardaz (“The Lover of Art”), directed by Mohammad Hadi Kavyani and featuring Ezzatollah Entezami and Parviz Pourhosseini with narration by Ziba Boroufeh, was made in his honor and screened at the unveiling ceremony of his fifth book.
Farshchian’s children are Dr. Ali Morad Farshchian, Leila Farshchian, and Fatemeh Farshchian. Fatemeh, who had studied medicine and was a member of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, along with her husband Abuzar Vardasbi, was killed during Operation Forough Javidan in August 1988. Dr. Ali Morad Farshchian practices medicine in Florida, USA, while Leila Farshchian works as a behavioral analyst and resides in New Jersey.
