Khosrow-e Khoban, a novel by Reza Daneshvar, was published in 1994 (1373 SH) by Afsaneh Publishing in Sweden and remains one of the finest Persian novels in the magical realism genre with political themes. The narrative begins with reports from SAVAK, the Plan Organization, and the Civil Registry about a village in Damavand, revealing that this ancient village, Kohandezh, has a strange fate and nature, sometimes disappearing from human sight.

Amid this, the revolution occurs, and the search by the Jihad-e Sazandegi (Construction Jihad) yields nothing but a corpse buried deep in the ice. The narrative frequently shifts back in time to explain both the corpse and the village’s disappearance. The novel spans a broad historical range—from mythological times, including the imprisonment of Zahhak and Alexander’s conquests, to the present—but the main events take place in the early 1960s, encompassing leftist movements, the revolution, and the war.

The prose is exceptionally beautiful, precise, and poetic, blending historical depth with a lyrical, evocative style.

خسرو خوبان، رمان بلند رضا دانشور، سال ۱۳۷۳ از انتشارات افسانه سوئد منتشر شده است و هنوز یکی از بهترین رمانهای فارسی در سبک رئالیسم جادویی با مضامین سیاسی به شمار میرود. روایت با گزارشات ساواک، سازمان برنامه و ثبت احوال از روستایی در دماوند شروع میشود که نشان میدهد این روستای کهندژ سرنوشت و سرشت عجیبی دارد و گاه از جشم انسان ناپدید میشود. در این بین انقلاب میشود و جستجوی جهادسازندگی نیز ثمری جز یک جنازه در اعماق یخها ندارد. بارها روایت به عقب بازمیگردد تا این جنازه و گم شدن روستا را تبیین روایی کند. بازهٔ کلی رمان از زمان اساطیر تا حال است، یعنی در بند شدن ضحاک و حمله اسکندر تا الان، ولی زمان حقیقی روایت مصادف است با اوایل دهه چهل و بعد جریانات چپ و انقلاب و جنگ.
نثر کتاب بسیار زیبا، دقیق و شاعرانه است.
